Lautaro refuses Inter Milan contract in hopes of joining Barcelona in 2021.

The Lautaro Martinez transfer saga for this summer looked to be over as the Argentine’s agent confirmed that he will stay at Inter Milan for another year. The center forward’s links to Barcelona ended with this statement as his agent said that the player will continue under Antonio Conte for another year.

More from Everything Barca

New reports are now suggesting that Martinez wants a move to the Nou Camp this season. According to Sport, the Argentine wants to play alongside Lionel Messi for the upcoming 2020/21 season. Barca captain might not even be in La Liga after this season given that his contract ends and he reportedly stated that he wanted to leave and take up a new challenge.

The whole transfer saga of the 23-year-old Argentine had come to an end after there was no movement by the Spanish Giants. His agent also stated that he will not be going anywhere. The people around Lautaro are worried that his move to Camp Nou might not gain him anything as he wishes to play alongside Messi and the 33-year-old veteran might not even be at the club after next season.

The Catalans now have to make a move for the Inter Milan number 10 as he has made his statement. The move might be tricky as the Blaugranas are currently monitoring the situation of Memphis Depay who has reportedly agreed on personal terms with the La Liga giants, according to Fabrizio Romano. Ronald Koeman is said to have the Lyon man as the main target for this summer.

As for Martinez, a move to Spain will definitely be an upgrade in status given the size of the club but his desire to play with the G.O.A.T could be fulfilled for merely one year. However, the fact remains that Barcelona is one of the greatest clubs in history, and if they come calling, it is really difficult for a footballer to turn them down.

Should Barca make a move for the coveted Lautaro Martinez?
