The former Liverpool striker has not been included in the squad for the last two friendly fixtures. Meanwhile, the board and Koeman are eager on signing Memphis Depay of Olympique Lyon to replace the Uruguyuan.
Suarez’s future at the Camp Nou has remained uncertain since Ronald Koeman took over the club. The 33-year-old striker’s contract expires in the summer of 2021 and the club believes that selling the player this summer for a decent price would be the ideal situation.
Following the resounding victory against Girona, Ronald Koeman addressed the media regarding the transfer speculation of Luis Suarez.
"“We have spoken this morning with Luis about his future . We are waiting if he finally leaves or not. From the first day I have said that we respect the contract of all the players and, he will be one more player in the squad if he finally stays”- El Desmarque"
Koeman’s diplomatic answer seems like Suarez is certainly not in his plans
Ronald Koeman addressed the media in a very diplomatic manner when asked about Luis Suarez. The Dutch manager has been pushing the board to sign Memphis Depay as he prefers to work with the former Manchester United forward rather than Suarez. If Depay does sign for Barca in the coming few days, it seems like Suarez will be forced out.
The question is where does he go? Juventus have already backed out from the negotiations and the rumours linking him to Ajax Amsterdam have simmered down as well. Where should Suarez go next? and why?
