Josep Maria Bartomeu has made some hysterical signings as Barcelona president and a number of careers were ruined by his lack of footballing knowledge.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu’s tenure at the club started off in the best possible manner but came crashing down soon after. The Catalans won a treble in the chief’s first season and the domestic double a year later in a season that saw them go 39 matches unbeaten on the bounce. However, the next few years were horrific.

The directors signed horrible players and did not do well to replace an ageing band which was constantly highlighted by failures in the UEFA Champions League, a competition which Barca haven’t won for five years now. Some of the president’s signings are nowhere as expected, and here’s a look at five careers who he ruined.
