Liverpool superstar to take a major decision regarding Barcelona.

According to GOAL, Georginio Wijnaldum must think about his last big move as Thiago Alcantara completes his transfer to Liverpool. The Anfield hero who helped them lift the UEFA Champions League trophy not too long ago is now contemplating whether to move or stay with the club. With rumors linking him to Barcelona, surely at the age of 29, this could be his last big move and a move to one of the most elite clubs of Europe will certainly be an achievement in his career.

The Dutch midfielder is admired by Barca’s new head coach, Ronald Koeman. Having worked with him before at an international level, Koeman knows the kind of dynamic play Wijnaldum can bring to the midfield of the club. Another advantage of having the Dutchman on the team would be due to his defensive mentality. Koeman has changed the formation to a more defensive one which requires the holding midfielders to help out the defenders a lot and thus Wijnaldum would be perfect for that role as he already has the ability to play as a defensive midfielder. His versatile nature and high work rate will surely suit Koeman’s new formation and he will be a cheap buy for the Catalans as well.

For the player, the decision will be a difficult one as Liverpool are clearly the better side at the moment but the addition of Thiago from Bayern Munich will certainly cut down his playing time. Wijnaldum was also having a problem with his wages and that could also play an important factor in his decision making. We will just have to wait and see what the player decides to do but should he choose the Spanish side over the English one, it will surely give Koeman a huge boost that he desperately needs.
