Barcelona are on the lookout to replace Nelson Semedo

Rumors in the media confirm that Barcelona has agreed to terms with Wolverhampton Wanderers over the transfer of Nelson Semedo. The 26-year-old Portuguese right-back will be used to fill in the void of the Irishman, Matt Doherty. Doherty has signed for Tottenham Hotspur and Nuno Espirito Santo believes that Semedo’s attacking qualities would be of great use on the right-flank.

Wolves have agreed to pay 35 million euros for the right-back and it is expected that Nelson Semedo will sign a long term contract with the Premier League side. Semedo was signed in the summer of 2017/18 which was a busy transfer season for the Catalans.

The former Benfica ace was signed for 30 million euros and since then has helped Barca win two La Liga titles. However, Semedo has failed to cement a place in the starting eleven for crucial fixtures as the managers have preferred playing Sergio Roberto instead.

A fresh start at the Premier League could be the ideal stepping stone for Nelson Semedo to revive his career after failing to live up to the expectations at the Camp Nou. Josep Maria Bartomeu and Ronald Koeman have already gotten down to business and have shortlisted four potential replacements for the Portuguese international.
