Barcelona midfielder, Philippe Coutinho, is heavily wanted by Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are reportedly still interested in signing Barcelona signing Philippe Coutinho for a season-long loan. The former Manchester City assistant manager has already secured the signings of Gabriel, Dani Ceballos, and Chelsea’s Willian Borges. However, he’s still interested in landing the former Liverpool man over at the Emirates for the current season.

More from Everything Barca

Coutinho has just returned to the Nou Camp from a season-long loan at the Allianz Arena with European Champions Bayern Munich. The German giants beat the Catalans in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals by 8 goals to 2 and the Brazilian actually bagged a couple of goals in that thrashing. However, Hansi Flick has not bought the former Liverpool man on a permanent deal which is why the midfielder is back at the Nou Camp.

The Catalan giants landed the Brazilian for a staggering 160 million euro figure from the Premier League side a couple of years ago. The midfielder failed to live up to the expectations at the Nou Camp. He failed to deliver like he was at Anfield. The Brazilian was just not the same in La Liga. Many reported that he was being played out of position and he did not get to play his ideal way.

However, the new Barca manager Ronald Koeman is reportedly very interested in giving Coutinho a chance to improve and put up his best display. He reportedly hopes that the Brazilian can be a main figure in the rebuild of the club. The former Liverpool man even participated in the preseason friendlies and did well, as he was not always relying on Messi’s help.

Although Mikel Arteta has been extremely keen to land Coutinho. The midfielder can rejuvenate his career in similar territory as he will return to the Premier League if this deal falls through. He can play with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Willian Borges, Dani Ceballos, Alexandre Lacazette, and Granit Xhaka. Coutinho will have a guaranteed starting lineup and he will get regular involvement. His presence will have a guaranteed improvement in the squad creativity wise.
