Barcelona scouts defensive reinforcements in Serie A.

Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the situation of Argentine centre-back Matteo Musacchio according to Mundo Deportivo. The Argentine joined AC Milan in 2017 and might be finally on his way out of the Serie A club after gaining interest from the Catalan giants.

The 30-year-old is very frustrated with his lack of game time at Milan and his agent has reportedly expressed that frustration publicly in interviews. This situation is not a secret as his agent is pushing a move for the centre back to be out of the club this summer so that he gets more playtime as he nears the end of his top-flight career.

The defender may have a solution to his problems as Barca boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly interested in signing him. According to reports, the Argentine has been monitored by the Spanish side and might be on his way to La Liga.

It is no secret that Koeman is looking for a new centre back and for that purpose, he has been showing interest in two Serie A defenders, AC Milan’s Matteo Musacchio and Juventus’ Daniele Rugani.

Musacchio has crossed 30 but still remains a solid defender. He will not have trouble adjusting to Spanish football as the pace of Serie A and South American football matches the pace to that of La Liga. Although the defender is suffering from an injury currently, he will not be a bad investment for Barca but will not offer a long term solution given his age.

A move to the Nou Camp will be an ideal transfer for the defender as he will get to play with fellow Argentine Lionel Messi. The AC Milan man will not cost a fortune as the Rossoneri are not looking to profit a lot of money off of him. He will be sold for a very small price according to the current situation of his contract.
