Barcelona compound Lionel Messi’s misery at Barcelona after the recent sales

Barcelona has officially announced the departures of Arturo Vidal and Luis Suarez. The Chile international signed for Inter Milan and the Uruguay international completed his switch to arch-rivals, Atletico Madrid.

More from Everything Barca

One could say that both the players were forcefully driven out as Ronald Koeman had no plans of including either of the two South American players in the starting eleven. However, Suarez and Vidal’s departure has left the club captain Lionel Messi feeling dejected.

The 33-year-old forward shared a close bond with Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal for the past few seasons. When Vidal’s departure was more or less confirmed, Messi took Instagram to express his heartfelt sentiments towards the former Juventus midfielder.

However, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi are like two peas in a pod. The two have been best friends since the former Liverpool man arrived in 2014 and are often spotted during vacations together with their families.

Messi and Barca have lost two leaders in the dressing room

The captain will more or less remain silent in the dressing room from now on and it has been reported that the departures of Vidal and Suarez will also reduce Messi’s control over the dressing room.

Luis Suarez and Arturo Vidal were verbal leaders in the dressing room that supported Lionel Messi and the team during difficult fixtures. It is a known fact that Messi is quite an introvert and with Suarez and Vidal gone, the voice in the dressing room has faded away as well.

However, the misery just does not end there for Lionel Messi in his final season for Barca. Josep Maria Bartomeu has planned on another massive wage cut to cope with the losses incurred during the pandemic.
