MOST APPEARANCES FOR BARCELONA

Heading into his 17th campaign as a Blaugrana, Messi has gotten a great chance of breaking the record for most appearances with the club. So far, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has racked up 731 matches under his belt and is the all-time top non-Spanish appearance maker for the club. But he may upgrade himself by beating Xavi.

Xavi moved to Qatar at the back of 767 games, meaning Messi only needs 37 matches to break the World Cup winner’s record. With a lesser squad depth than usual and five substitutions being allowed as well in La Liga and Champions League, Messi will be optimistic about breaking the record in the 38 league outings and minimum six CL fixtures.
