According to the rumours in Italy, Andrea Pirlo is an admirer of Ousmane Dembele as the former Borussia Dortmund winger can play on either side and is double footed which is a massive bonus skill to have.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barca and Juve had negotiated a possible swap deal that would see Dembele swap places with Douglas Costa.
However, the Catalans turned down the opportunity to sign Costa
Douglas Costa was offered to Barca in the Miralem Pjanic- Arthur Melo swap deal, however, Barca opted for Pjanic over Costa due to his injury history.
The 30-year-old has suffered from injuries for most of his career. The former Bayern Munich winger barely had an impact for Juve last season as he was mostly benched or coming off the bench during the last few minutes of the game.
Although Douglas Costa is an extremely fast and skillful player, the 30-year-old would certainly not work under Ronald Koeman and would most likely be another flop signing. Meanwhile, Koeman trusts Dembele and the 23-year-old has a lot to prove this season as fans expect him to step up.
