Barcelona are extremely close to securing a defensive transfer target.
Barcelona have basically wrapped up the deal towards their favor when it has come to Ajax youngster, Sergino Dest. According to Sport, the young right-back would very much like to play at the Nou Camp this summer.

Barca sold their Portuguese full-back, Nelson Semedo, to Nuno’s Wolverhampton Wanderers and they lack a right-back now. Dest will have a guaranteed place in the starting line up given Semedo’s departure to the Premier League. The deal is basically complete but the only obstruction as of now is the official transfer fee.
The young American had reportedly reached an agreement with Bayern Munich and according to reports, he forced his team to terminate that deal recently. Dest has reportedly forced his agents to stop the negotiations with the Bundesliga giants so that he can join the Catalans instead.
Ajax and Barca have built a very good relationship over the years given their similarity in moral institutions for the game. Hence, this deal might not be a huge problem for the Catalans. A reported deal for 20 million euros has apparently been agreed for the 19-year-old.
Blaugrana are also heavily linked to Lyon’s Memphis Depay who has reportedly reached personal terms with the club. With the sale of Semedo to Wolves, Ivan Rakitic to Sevilla, and Luis Suarez to Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, a ton of money has freed up for a few more transfers and that includes the Dest deal. While Suarez’s deal was a free transfer, a lot of wages that were being paid to him will be freeing up.
Dest is highly appreciated by current manager Ronald Koeman and he will be a great addition to this current side as Barca are supposedly rebuilding. He is young and extremely talented hence he can seal that right-back position and make it his own.
Can Dest be the long-term heir to Dani Alves?
