According to Goal, the new Barca manager has not yet ruled out the specific targets like Lyon’s Memphis Depay and Inter Milan‘s Lautaro Martinez. He was reportedly asked about these two and he replied saying that nothing can be ruled out.
The Blaugrana have already sold Arthur Melo to Juventus, Ivan Rakitic to Sevilla, Nelson Semedo to Wolverhampton Wanderers, and now Suarez to Atleti. Arturo Vidal has also completed a deal with Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.
Ronald Koeman is performing a massive squad overhaul which sees a build-up for the future. The Dutch manager already has Pjanic from Juventus as a new signing and Sergino Dest is reportedly on his way. Philippe Coutinho returned to his services after a season-long loan at Bayern Munich. The Dutchman is reportedly focusing all his attention on Ousmane Dembele and how to get him back to his top form again after all these inconsistent performances since his arrival in the La Liga.
As for Martinez and Depay, these signings need to be made if Barca want to compete in Europe and make a difference. Lionel Messi will have Antoine Griezmann and Coutinho by his side but extra firepower does not hurt. Lautaro has stated that he wants to play alongside Messi which might not be possible next year as the Argentine’s contract at Barca is up and he might leave. As for Lyon’s Depay, he has reportedly reached personal terms with the Spanish side and the only thing holding this deal back is the transfer fee.
Should Barca sign Lautaro or Depay?
