Lyon President claims to finalize Barcelona target’s future by Friday.

A deadline has been set by Lyon President, Jean-Michel Aulas, by when all transfers must be done as they will entertain no more offers after that. The deadline he has set is Friday and two big-money moves are still being negotiated. Memphis Depay to Barcelona and Houssem Aouar to Arsenal are yet to be completed but now with the time limit, it will be tough to negotiate further, and both the clubs would need to become totally committed if they want to see their respective players at their clubs.

More from Everything Barca

Barca who are in desperate need of a center-forward has chosen Depay as the replacement for club legend Luis Suarez who headed towards rivals, Atletico Madrid. Depay, although not a conventional striker, can fulfill the role of one due to his incredible versatility. The Dutch international also has prior experience working with Ronald Koeman in the international scene. The ex-Manchester United player regained popularity after leaving the Red Devils and he showed his immense quality in Ligue one. The winger, however, was not the only choice that the Spanish giants had. Lautaro Martinez, the other big-money move that the Catalans were moving towards but due to extreme financial conditions, the club could only raise 15 million euros to pay upfront for his transfer. This offer shocked Inter Milan and they have completely cut ties from the transfer deal, leaving Depay as their only option left.

The Spanish side must come up with a better offer than 15 million euros for Depay as even though he will be much cheaper than Martinez, there is very little chance that Lyon will let go of their star player for such a less amount. In any case, the Catalans have only till Friday to negotiate and sort out everything and if they do not get it done quickly, Koeman will just have to use the players who are currently at his disposal.

Will Depay be successful at Barca?
