Barcelona fortunes turn massively as Neymar now looks a possibility
Barcelona have started their campaign with a brilliant win and they must now focus on getting their target of this year’s summer.
As per Metro, Manchester United have expressed their interest in Barcelona’s failed experiment in Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman arrived from Borussia Dortmund back in 2018 for a record fee of £97 million in addition to add-ons but has spent most of the time injured since then. He hasn’t delivered in the way Barcelona would’ve liked him to.

Manchester United are running problems of their own with their failed Jadon Sancho pursuit. They missed the initial deadline set by the Bundesliga giants to match their asking price of £100 million; which has now gone up to £120 million. Dortmund has made it clear to the Red Devils that they are not willing to accept anything less than their asking price and which is why the Red Devils are considering Dembele as an option.
Barcelona have their eyes set on Memphis Depay and it has been that way for quite a few months now. They, however, do not have the funds to complete the transaction and must sell before they buy. They have already acquired Sergino Dest in this transfer window and Depay would provide the squad with some solid pace upfront.
However, this would mean that Barcelona will have to incur some heavy losses if they do decide to offload the 23-year-old, who is regarded as one of the better talents in Europe. Though he remains someone to be used by Ronald Koeman down the line, Barcelona might just decide to let him go for a fee of around £46-54 million. It is exactly half of the amount that was spent to bring him in from the Signa Iduna Park.
Barcelona should consider negotiating with Manchester United and must try to get the price around £70-80 million to have a solid chance at bringing in at least 2-3 players including Depay. Eric Garcia has been a solid target for the Blaugrana as well.
In another long shot, the club might just decide to save up all the money and go for Neymar in the next season. That deal will not make sense at all as Neymar will be 29 next season and the club should focus on bringing in some bright talents. Perhaps, with Manchester United set not to sign Jadon Sancho this season, Barcelona could decide to go for him in the coming months.
