Manchester United are keen on securing Barcelona star, Ousmane Dembele.

A few days ago we reported that Liverpool and Manchester United were willing to bring Ousmane Dembele to their club and Barcelona were also interested in recouping some of the amounts they spent on the French winger when they brought him from Dortmund. The player then cost 135.5 million pounds and was supposed to be the replacement for Neymar jr. but after recent injuries and performances, the Catalans might not be too keen on the player.

Manchester United are one of the two Premier League clubs trying to bring the struggling star in. Although the player apparently wants to stay in Spain and fight for his place with the other players, the Catalans themselves are not too sure about him and will sell him off should they get the right offer.

Club President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, put Dembele on the list of non-transferable players but then Nelson Semedo, who was also on the list was sold off to Wolves. This shows that the club is willing to sell anyone who is not deemed to be crucial. Coach Ronald Koeman, however, has stated his desire to bring Dembele back to his prime, which might be enough to keep the youngster at the Nou Camp.

United had a rather slow transfer season this window as their main target, Jason Sancho, slipped away from their grasp. Dortmund were stubborn and wanted nothing less than a 100 million pounds for the English youngster but due to the pandemic and frivolous spending, the Red Devils were not able to produce the required amount. Thus the club is now looking at Dembele as a potential replacement for Sancho, however, Barca have also put a price tag of 92 million pounds on the player.

The Premier League giants are highly unlikely to pay such an amount for an injury-prone player and amidst talks about N’Golo Kante, the possibilities of seeing Dembele at Old Trafford seem less. Still, the club from Manchester is known to make eccentric transfers and they could in fact end up paying the required amount but they must do so before Monday as that is when the window will officially be closing.
