Manchester City defender has been unexpectedly offered to Barcelona.
23-year-old left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko has reportedly been offered to Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona this summer by Manchester City according to Mundo Deportivo. The youngster arrived at the Etihad for 1.5 million euros in the season 2016/17 and could potentially end up in Spain.

The Ukrainian was previously a centre attacking midfielder but Pep Guardiola turned the player into a left-back and he was extremely key for City during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 season as Benjamin Mendy was out with multiple injuries.
While rumours link the youngster to Barca, there has been no official offer or discussions about the Ukrainian’s move to the Nou Camp. According to Josep Maria Bartomeu’s latest sell before purchase policy, the currently second-choice left-back Junior Firpo might be sold in order to make way for the Manchester City man.
Zinchenko made several appearances for the Premier League giants over the years but due to muscle injuries, he had failed to come into the team this season. He was heavily linked to Nuno’s Wolverhampton Wanderers last season but he ended up renewing a deal with City instead. This deal gave him a salary increase along with a contract that lasted until the year 2024.
Blaugrana are currently dealing with an ageing Jordi Alba and an off form Firpo. The former Real Betis left-back failed to live up to the hype and failed to deliver top-notch performances as it was expected very highly of him. However, he can be transferred out and with his sale, a fee for Zinchenko can be arranged. As for Alba, he looks like his days at the top flight may soon come to an end. Although, he still has Koeman’s trust and had a fantastic display against Villarreal as he won the king of the match.
Zinchenko would be a fantastic addition to Barcelona’s rebuild as they would now have two extremely young full-backs as the Blaugrana are edging onto Ajax’s Sergino Dest too.
