Ronald Koeman of Barcelona is furious at Josep Maria Bartomeu as the Dutch manager is set to lose out on his transfer target from Olympique Lyon

It is a well-known fact that Memphis Depay has been a top target at Barcelona. The former Manchester United forward was desperately demanded by Ronald Koeman to add versatility in the attack as the player can play in several different positions.

However, reports from SPORT claim that the move has been completely ruled out by Olympique Lyon. The French side led by Rudi Garcia stunned the world last season after they managed to get past Juventus and Manchester City in the Champions League before losing out to the champions, Bayern Munich.

Nevertheless, the Ligue 1 side wants to keep the same momentum going and have decided that the two most important players of their team will remain part of the squad for this season. Memphis Depay and Houssem Aouar will remain as Lyon players for the rest of the season.

The president of the French club, Aulas, had a brief conversation with Rudi Garcia for the future of the club. Which is the very reason why the club has decided to safeguard both its superstars this season.

The Catalans could have signed the player weeks ago, however, Josep Maria Bartomeu insisted that the transfer fee should be reduced despite being reasonably priced at 25 million euros without bonuses.

Ronald Koeman will now have to make the most out of the current squad he has. The Dutch manager has found the magic trick to get Philippe Coutinho back on track and now he must focus on finding the solution to fit in Antoine Griezman.

The former Atletico Madrid forward seemed rusty in their last outing and many believe that the 120 million euro signing is not fit for the Barca system. It is yet to be seen if Koeman can find a way that would see Griezmann thrive at the Camp Nou.
