Barcelona transfer policy of making major sales worked out marvelously.

Football Club Barcelona have reportedly managed to get rid of 80 million euros from their current wage bill according to SPORT. The Spanish giants have reportedly gone all out to reduce this staggering amount from their wage bill in order to maintain UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

More from Everything Barca

Club veteran Luis Suarez was sold to Atletico Madrid, Ivan Rakitic was sold to Sevilla, Arthur Melo was sold to Juventus, and Arturo was sold to Inter Milan over this transfer window. Other squad players like Nelson Semedo, Rafinha Alcantara, and Jean Claire Todibo were also sold in this summer transfer window. All of these sales have freed up a huge amount of wages. The transfer fees for which these players were sold for was nothing major, but the amount of wages that were freed up is massive. This current overhaul has led to a total amount of 80 million euros yearly, which Barcelona have gotten rid of just to maintain UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

The Catalan giants terminated Suarez’s contract which had one more year left and paid him a compensation fee of 7 million euros. The Uruguayan was the third-highest earner in the team with a total amount of 15 million euros. He was then sold as a free transfer to Diego Simeone’s men over at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The La Liga giants also sold Rakitic and Vidal who were heavy wage holders. While major sales were made, the club’s biggest signing for this window was Miralem Pjanic who cost around 60 million euros, but they didn’t pay anything as Arthur was given in return.

The build-up under new manager Ronald Koeman finally looks stable and on its way. The manager has got two wins out of three games and one draw against Sevilla. According to multiple reports, Memphis Depay is eager to join the former Everton manager in January over at the Nou Camp on a permanent move from his current club, Olympic Lyon.

Will Barca go big on the next transfer window?
