The summer transfer window has come to an end and Barcelona have been able to sign players such as Pedri, Mathues Fernades, Sergino Dest and Miralem Pjanic. In addition to signing these players the Catalan giants has seen the departures of many players such as Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Arthur Melo, Nelson Semedo, Rafinha, Marc Cucurella and Jean-Clair Todibo. Many believe that Barca haven’t had a satisfactory transfer window as the club hasn’t been able to sign some transfer targets over the transfer window to strengthen the club.
Barca have failed to sign their transfer targets which included players such as Neymar, Lautaro Martinez, Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum. This has occurred because the outbreak of the coronavirus has left the club with the inability to precure sufficient funds to sign these players. The Spanish giants have also struggled to sell many players over the transfer window which could have helped add more funds to the club to sign their transfer targets.
Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo are still players under Ronald Koeman.
Even though the Spanish giants wanted to sell the defensive duo the board haven’t been able to sell the defenders over the summer transfer window. Barca should try and target the winter transfer window to sell Samuel Umtiti, as the 26-year-old central defender is injury prone and has failed to make his mark in the Camp Nou and many believe he hasn’t added sufficient value to the squad. Even though Junior Firpo had a shaky season under Joesp Maria Batromeu, Ronald Koeman shouldn’t sell the 24-year-old left back over the winter transfer window as many believe that the Dominican Republic international might have needed time to adjust in Barcelona this season. The Spanish giants should see how the defender performs this season before deciding to sell him or alternatively loaning him out.
Do you think Barca should sell this defensive duo?
