Barcelona superstar Ousmane Dembele rejected Manchester United.

Manchester United along with Liverpool were the two clubs from the Premier League who were trying to secure Barcelona out of favor star, Ousmane Dembele. The French star who arrived from Dortmund for an eye-watering fee of 135.5 million pounds, has fallen out of the board and the coach’s good books. Thus when United heard that they could potentially buy Dembele, they wasted no time and started negotiations. However, things did not turn out well and the winger will remain in Spain for this season.

More from Everything Barca

There are two major reasons as to why the Manchester side were unable to pick up the talented youth. The French winger was their alternative to Jadon Sancho who was also linked with the Red Devil but then the deal could not be finalized. Thus when they heard that Dembele was available for transfer they were naturally interested. The English side, however, wanted to bring in the winger on a loan but Barcelona wanted around 90 million euros to sell him off permanently. That is one of the reasons as to why the move could not move forward as United at the moment cannot finance such a big-money move. Along with financial loss due to COVID-19, Edinson Cavani’s move will also take a toll on their fiance due to the size of his contract.

However, the main reason is that Dembele just doesn’t want to give up on his Barca dreams just yet. Although Paul Pogba believed that his fellow national teammate needs to move in order to get more playing time, Dembele wishes to stay at the Catalan club and fight for his space. The 23-year-old is down the pecking order but he desperately wants to get back into Ronald Koeman’s team. His problems include his attitude and his injury proneness. He could play only nine matches last season and thus it’s easy to see why the Catalans wanted to sell him.

The player refused to leave however and rejected the move to the Premier League giants. This has left the club fuming and he might be forced out of the club in the next transfer window.
