Barcelona should try to sign the versatile duo from Lyon

Barcelona must sign players in the winter transfer window.

After deciding against spending funds in the summer transfer window Barcelona must target the January transfer window to sign some of their transfer targets. Ronald Koeman must do so as he might end up overusing some players in the current squad which could lead to injuries and could end up tampering the chances of the club to win silverware this season.

The Catalan giants need to sign a new midfielder who can help replace Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal from the squad as well as an attacker who can help add more goals to the club. Many believe that Barca should priorities a defender in the January transfer window, however as seen in the summer transfer window Ronald Koeman seemed more interested in adding a midfielder and an attacker to his side rather than a defender.

Barca should sign Houssem Aouar and Memphis Depay from Lyon.

The 2018-2019 La Liga champions should try to sign the duo of Memphis Depay and Houssem Aouar from Lyon in the winter transfer window, signing the duo from Lyon will help add great depth in the squad. Reports have suggested that Depay was on the verge to join the Spanish giants but due to insufficient funds the Catalan giants couldn’t sign Lyon’s superstar. Houssem Aouar was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer transfer window but the Gunner decided against using their transfer budget to sign the promising Frenchman and signed Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid instead. The Spanish club should try to establish swap deals and offer players such as Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo to the French team to reduce the price required to sign their players.

Alternatively, Barcelona should sign a young defender such as Dayot Upamecano or Ibrahima Konate who can help add more depth in defence as well as act as long term replacement for Gerard Pique who is 33 years old and is playing in one of his last few seasons of football.
