Barcelona receive a sigh of relief as Ter Stegen is set to return very soon

Barcelona under Ronald Koeman seems like a much-improved side when compared to the same squad under Quique Setien. In the three competitive fixtures that the Catalans have played under their new manager, the side has conceded just a single goal which is quite an impressive stat given how poor the defense was last season.

So far, Ronald Koeman has made to make use of Neto Murara who was signed last summer from Valencia and was then tipped to leave the club after making just two appearances in his debut season. However, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen still recovering from his injury, Neto and Inaki Pena have been Koeman’s go-to choices.

Ter Stegen went under operation in mid-August and had his right knee’s patellar tendon operated. It was expected that the player would be out for almost three months, however, it has been reported by the El Desmarque that the German goalkeeper has recovered a lot earlier than expected.

Although there has been no official announcement on the return of Ter Stegen by the club, it is rumoured that the German would be ready for the El Clasico and to face Juventus in the Champions League. These two fixtures are extremely important for Barca and Ronald Koeman. The return of Ter Stegen in the sticks could prove to be a sigh of relief for the club and the manager.

Meanwhile, sources in Spain also confirm that Ter Stegen has agreed to sign a new deal with Barcelona despite being linked with a move to several other clubs. The return and renewal of Ter Stegen will certainly be a huge positive for the Catalan club after recovering from a horrific 2019/20 season.
