Barcelona could have reunited with their former midfielder, Thiago Alcantara.
Barcelona reportedly wanted to land Thiago Alcantara back from Bayern Munich in this transfer window as a part of their rebuild but apparently, the Spaniard already had his heart set on joining Jurgen Klopp. The Spanish maestro joined Liverpool and is already underway with the reds for the 2020/21 season.

Thiago would have been a great addition to Barcelona’s current midfield because it is not exactly the best in the world yet. After this horrific and trophyless season, a familiar face like Thiago at the Nou Camp would be a relief.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund manager had different plans as he landed the 29-year-old central midfielder in just under 30 million.
The former Barcelona midfielder wanted to join Liverpool as they offered him a very good deal. The player is fresh off a treble-winning season with Hansi Flick’s Bayern.
An experienced player like Thiago who has had 7 successful seasons with the German Champions is a fantastic addition to this already strong Premier League squad. This transfer has provided Jurgen Klopp with squad depth and some creativity in the midfield which he was craving for quite a while now.
However, struggling Spanish giants were also monitoring the 29-year-old’s transfer as his selling price was not that high. They were looking to bring the La Masia graduate back home on a permanent deal. The champions league winner, however, had a better offer from England as he made a move to join Jurgen Klopp and his men on a Premier League quest.
Thiago played the second half of the match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in which he broke the record for the most passes in a single half. That is a first-class display for his debut and it looks like Alcantara means business. At this point, no one will argue about the fact of how a move to Anfield is clearly a better choice in the current situation. However, the Blaugrana are building their squad back up from scratch and hoping to be back soon.
Should Barca have secured Thiago before Liverpool?
