Jorge Mendes has a plan for his client that could create a huge issue at Barcelona
The Portuguese football agent, Jorge Mendes, is also known as a super-agent due to his client portfolio as he works with players of a certain calibre such as Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, Joao Cancelo, and so on. Recently, the Portuguese businessman has added another high profile player to his portfolio, the player in question is Ansu Fati of Barcelona.

The young Spanish prodigy was previously under the guidance of Jorge Messi who is Lionel Messi‘s brother. However, Fati decided to part ways with Jorge Messi and opted to connect with Jorge Mendes given the popularity and the networking reach the Portuguese super-agent has.
Ansu Fati rise in football has been nothing short of phenomenal and the 17-year-old is already wanted by several top clubs in the world, including Manchester United who was willing to pay 150 million euros this summer transfer market.
The Spanish youngster has started the 2020/21 season on a bright note as he has managed to score three goals in three games so far for the Catalans. Fati will certainly be an important player for Ronald Koeman for the rest of the season. However, his recent progression as a footballer has caught the eye of Jorge Mendes who believes that his client deserves a much higher pay.
Reports state, that Mendes wants Ansu Fati to renew his contract with Barca in the summer of 2022, however, on the condition that his client inherits the salary of Lionel Messi which will make him the highest-paid player in the club.
Since Lionel Messi is most likely set to join forces with Manchester City next summer, Jorge Mendes believes that his client, Ansu Fati, rightfully deserves to earn the same amount that Messi earns currently. Although Fati is an exceptional talent, providing the player such a high wage may not go down well in the dressing room amongst the other senior players given the fact that Fati is still a teenager.
