Lionel Messi and Barcelona have managed to hit the headlines quite a number of times in the last 2-3 months.
The Argentine ace was set to leave the club in the summer transfer window but was consequently stopped by the club from doing so. A clause in his contract was the root cause of the complications.
As per Goal, Manchester City are still convinced that Messi would like to leave his boyhood club at the end of this season and are now preparing a bid which they’re likely to submit in the winter window.

The bid is set to be valued at £15 million and for all we know, Barcelona will accept that. The rationale behind this statement is that if they don’t accept the bid, Messi will end up leaving as a free agent. Being in a cash-strapped situation, Barcelona will most likely accept the bid.
Something is better than nothing, right?
Messi has been largely disappointed with the club in recent times. Early Champions League exits just added to his frustration and the 8-2 dribbling at the hands of Bayern proved to be the final nail in the coffin. Moreover, the 32-year-old and the club president Bartomeu aren’t exactly on the friendliest of terms. The stalwart had publicly bashed Bartomeu numerous times.
This comes as a major setback for the Culers who were hoping that their greatest player of all time would change his mind at the end of the season. Should a bid arrive in Jan, Barcelona will have to accept it if Messi is firm on his decision to leave the club.
Barcelona are currently placed 8th on the La Liga points table and are 3 points behind the league leaders in Real Madrid. However, they are yet to play their fifth match and the Blaugrana will be hoping to get back on track following a shock 1-0 defeat to Getafe.
