According to Sport, the Dutchman started off by visiting Lionel Messi’s house after his arrival. The former Everton manager reportedly pitched his project to Lionel Messi and somehow convinced him to believe that Barcelona can be a European powerhouse again. All of the squad players look to be extremely satisfied with the new boss.
However, the Argentine still wanted to leave even after Koeman pitched him his project. Messi saw himself out of this project. The player even went and convinced other Barca teammates that they are in good hands when it comes to the former Southampton manager but he still wanted to leave.
The Argentine however stayed at the Nou Camp as he did not want to take this matter to court. The La Liga giants were not going to let the magician go easily. With one year left on his contract, he did not want to make a fuss about it as he decided to stay for another year at the Nou Camp. The 33-year-old playmaker was heavily linked to Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City.
Ronald Koeman had spoken to all the other big players like Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho, Frenkie De Jong, Gerard Pique, and Sergio Busquets and he had won them over. His coaching methods and tactics seem to have the trust of the Barcelona squad. It looks like the Catalans will flourish during his reign.
Barcelona resumes their La Liga quest after a two-week international break as they go into Koeman’s fourth official game. The Dutchman has a lot to prove as he has been questioned multiple times.
