The players of Barcelona unite to rebel against Josep Maria Bartomeu and his way-ward methods

The tension in the Barcelona dressing room is at a boiling point after their recent outing against Getafe that ended in a disappointment along with Josep Maria Bartomeu’s latest action. The players seem to have grown frustrated with the president as it has been reported that the players have been asked to accept another pay-cut worth 30% of their salary, according to reports.

Earlier last season, the players were more than happy to accept a 70% pay-cut during the out-break of COVID-19, however, the squad is not willing to accept another pay-cut this time.

This recent demand from the president has caused a drift in the dressing room at probably the worst possible time as the Catalans are set to face Juventus and Real Madrid soon.

Meanwhile, Marc-Andre ter Stegen has finally agreed to sign a contract extension with Barca and an official announcement will be made shortly. The German goalkeeper will be made one of the highest-paid players at the club and the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world.

Ronald Koeman values the players highly and believes that the financial conditions set out by Ter Stegen are fair. However, the German goalkeeper will most likely not be fit for the upcoming fixture against Juventus and El Clasico.

The Catalans have also started working on a new deal to tie down Clement Lenglet and Frenkie de Jong who are considered as core members of the senior squad by Ronald Koeman. The club plan to increase their current wage by a considerable amount while offering them a longer contract.
