Inter Milan are confident that Lautaro Martinez will renew terms despite the strong interest from Barcelona and Manchester City
Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan has been Barcelona’s most sought after player alongside Neymar. The Argentine was considered as the perfect heir to replace Luis Suarez and Barcelona has been pursuing the player for almost two seasons now. However, with the appointment of Ronald Koeman, there comes a change of fresh air and it seems like Martinez is not the one the Dutchman wants.

The former Everton manager prefers signing Memphis Depay instead of Olympique Lyon and was extremely close this summer, however, the deal, unfortunately, fell through on deadline day. With Depay’s interest looming in the Camp Nou dressing room, the talk about Martinez has subsided.
This news has come as a relief for Antonio Conte and the Inter Milan board who were afraid they might lose out on their prized forward.
However, Barca desperately requires a proper number 9 that is clinical in the box and the best option for them is Lautaro Martinez. But, it seems like Koeman is hell-bent on Depay who is not a traditional number 9 and may not be the best signing for the club given the situation.
Having said that, it has now been reported that Inter is confident that they can renew terms with Lautaro Martinez and increase his release clause to tie down the player for long term gains.
It is evident that Martinez wants the Barca move and to play alongside his national teammate, Lionel Messi, however, Koeman first needs to understand that the required signing is Lautaro Martinez and not Memphis Depay.
