Barca have done well in the UEFA Champions League as they beat Juventus 2-0 in Turin and won both of their starting games. However, in La Liga, they have managed to get just two points from the last 12 points at stake. The Blaugrana also suffered a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the El Clasico couple of weeks ago.
The fans were aware of a bumpy ride this season given Lionel Messi’s desperate attempt to leave the club after a trophyless season and the fact that they have appointed a new manager. However, even the good results in the champions league, the fans did not expect such a horrific ride in the La Liga.
Last week the Camp Nou saw president Josep Maria Bartomeu voluntarily resign from his position. The president was extremely looked down upon by the fans of the club as he did not do things that were needed.
However, it is still early in the season. Koeman will get all the time he needs for a rebuild. Barca are way behind in the La Liga table but they have also played one game less due to excelling further in last season’s Champions League knockout rounds.
It is a long road ahead, the Blaugrana have made signings and they will be looking to make more of them. Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay are reportedly pushing for moves in the January transfer window from their respective clubs, Manchester City and Olympic Lyon. Koeman has a very tough job ahead of him and it looks like it will not be a smooth ride for the club, fans, or the players.
Will Ronald Koeman be able to resolve their struggling form in front of goals?
