The Dutch manager attended the pre-match press conference yesterday and was asked about Quique Setien’s recent comment on Lionel Messi and how difficult a player he is to manage because of his ego. Ronald Koeman was quick to defend the captain of his squad and stated that

"He is not a player who has difficulties to carry him, every week I talk to him about things from the field and the dressing room. I do not agree with Setién, but I respect what he has experienced."

Lionel Messi has not had the best start so far in the season as the 33-year-old has not scored a single goal so far from open play. The three goals that Messi has scored this season have come from penalties, however, this does not worry Ronald Koeman who believes that Messi will soon shine.

The Dutch manager was then subsequently questioned whether the club will sign a striker in the winter transfer market. Koeman replied in a diplomatic manner by stating that the club lacks a thorough number nine and that he has raised this issue several times, however, the current financial state has to be looked into as well.

Barca will be hoping to secure all three points today against Dynamo Kyiv as the Catalans have two demanding games lined-up in La Liga. A win today would provide the morale boost to take on Real Betis and Atletico Madrid one after the other in the Spanish league.
