Recent reports have suggested that Barcelona’s new contract offer to former Las Palmas youngster Pedri has a 400 million euros release clause. The youngster has been fantastic so far for the Blaugrana and has apparently learned to adjust to top-flight football very well especially after learning and training under club captain Lionel Messi.

The Catalans are extremely impressed by his qualities and his determination so far. The La Liga giants are looking to secure Pedri for a long period of time given their current build-up under new manager Ronald Koeman. Hence, the release clause will be hard to match by any other team in Europe in case they want to steal the youngster.

17-year-old Pedri completed a move to the Nou Camp in the summer from Las Palmas. Blaugrana reportedly beat Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the race to sign the attacking midfielder. Pep Guardiola was reportedly extremely interested in the 17-year-old, however, he decided to join the Catalans and play in La Liga.

The Catalan giants paid 5 million euros to Las Palmas for the youngster including some other add ons. If all the specific characteristics for the add ons are met then Barcelona will have to pay Las Palmas a total of 22 million euros. However, Ronald Koeman and the staff at the Nou Camp have the boy secured with a very heavy release clause of 400 million euros which teams won’t be able to easily trigger. Pedri has been a fantastic addition to this Barca squad which has a lot of other youngsters like Sergino Dest, Ansu Fati, Riqui Puig, and Ousmane Dembele.
