Lionel Messi’s heart has set sail for Manchester City given his recent run of lackluster performances for Barcelona. What has gone so wrong with Messi?

Given Lionel Messi’s performance this season for Barcelona, one could say that gone are the days when Messi would dominate the game and would either score or assist for the Catalans. The 33-year-old has been consistent for the past decade in terms of assists and goals, however, this season, it seems like the decline and the age factor have taken a toll on the captain.

More from Everything Barca

Leo Messi has failed to score a goal from open play so far this season and has not registered a single assist so far in La Liga. Quite a shocking stat given how clutch Messi was last season he hit double digits in terms of goals and assists for the Blaugrana.

Categorically, the left-footed forward managed to score 25 goals and provide 21 assists last season and when compared to his performances so far, it is nothing but a mere shadow of his past form.

What is the reason behind Messi’s decline? Was it growing frustrated with Josep Maria Bartomeu? Could be, since Messi wanted out from Barca because of his strained relationship with the board.

But with Bartomeu now gone, what is stopping Messi from achieving or unleashing his true colours? Has his heart already set sail for Manchester? given the fact that Pep Guardiola has ruled out a return and is possibly waiting for the world’s best player’s arrival? Let me known in the comments.
