Lionel Messi proves why he is called the GOAT of football after changing the game for Barcelona against Real Betis in the La Liga Santander

Barcelona unleashed their lethal firepower against Real Betis at the Camp Nou as the score ended 5-2 in favour of the Catalans. However, it was the inclusion of Lionel Messi in the second half that changed the tide for the Blaugrana.

More from Everything Barca

The 33-year-old scored two goals coming on from the bench to change Ronald Koeman‘s fortune against Betis.

Messi’s introduction into the game had an instant impact as the South American combined well with Jordi Alba before leaving the ball for Antoine Griezmann to take the lead.

Leo Messi also scored his first goal from open play after Sergi Roberto‘s backheel pass left the captain clear on goal to slot it home. The way Lionel Messi changed the game for Barca simply proves why he is considered the GOAT of the sport.

Despite the slow start this season and all of the off-field issues, Messi’s power to dictate a game at any point still has not diminished. However, a big challenge lies ahead for the captain and Ronald Koeman as the Catalans are set to face Atletico Madrid.

The Red and Whites have been in fine form this season and Joao Felix has lately been scoring frequently as well. The presence of Joao Felix and Luis Suarez would certainly be a massive threat to the Catalan defense given how weak it is.

What is your prediction for the game against Atletico Madrid? Will Luis Suarez and Joao Felix cause issues for the defence or will Leo Messi once again step up and save Ronald Koeman?
