As the January transfer window edges closer, Barcelona have got numerous issues to address. Well, one of them might not exactly be an issue but a blessing.
Junior Firpo, left-back isn’t in Ronald Koeman’s plans for the season (well not entirely) and Barcelona could be on their way to sell off Firpo. As per Sport, Inter Milan are eager to try again for Firpo this January after a failed attempt in the recently concluded summer window.

Barcelona are eager to bring in Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay from Manchester City and Olympique Lyon, respectively. The sooner this happens, the better and there is a very valid reason behind this statement. Barcelona should prioritize bringing in Memphis Depay simply because the arrival of an attacker could ease up a major load off Messi’s shoulders and free up Griezmann, who hasn’t really adapted fully to the role of the striker.
Depay is fast and could complement Messi either on the left-flank or as a striker but nonetheless, he is a valuable asset. Moreover, both the players are eager for a move to Camp Nou and that is a positive for the Blaugrana.
Inter Milan are in need of a left-back and Firpo has only featured for 29 minutes this season. It is natural that Inter would want a young left-back and there’s no better option available at the moment, than Firpo. Firpo is yet to feature in the La Liga this season and in Inter Milan, he’d be a younger alternative to Aleksandr Kolarov.
The 24-year-old’s departure could free up some funds and could well be the turning point of a rather strange season for the club, for the better. Barcelona ended their winless run in the La Liga against Real Betis recently with a comprehensive 5-2 win and more importantly, Messi scored his first goal from an open play in three months.
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been struggling this season, the former more than the latter. However, as it happens often, a simple change in attitude on the field can often prove to be the difference between winning a treble and winning nothing. All is not over yet for the Blaugrana and they certainly have a long way to go.
The upcoming January window is crucial to their chances in this season and this season has proved that it one of fine lines. It’ll be interesting to see how a struggling Blaugrana side copes with it.
