Lionel Messi lists five conditions to remain at Barcelona.

Lionel Messi is tipped to leave his home and his club after the 2020-21 season. His transfer saga was filled with controversy and outrage. Many fans believed that the player was stripped of his agency to move away but ex-president Josep Maria Bartomeu assured the public that whatever he did, he did for the benefit of the club.

The Argentine wanted to leave the club after last season’s disastrous UEFA Champions League exit. Messi stated that the way the management team was going about their club was disastrous. They did not have long term plans for the holes left in the club after Xavi and Iniesta left and after the exit of Neymar, the club started to fall off rapidly.

The number 10 desired an exit which was possible due to a termination clause in his contract but Bartomeu informed him that due to the shift in schedule due to the pandemic, the season was already over and he missed the time period in which he could activate the clause. Messi thus decided to stay, however, it is very likely that he moves to a foreign terrain next season.
