Barcelona look to make transfers despite bankruptcy scare.
Ronald Koeman remains keen on bringing in one of his main targets, Olympic Lyon’s Memphis Depay to the Nou Camp. The Dutchman has been Koeman’s top target since he arrived to take over the struggling Barcelona side. However, due to insufficient funds, Blaugrana could not land the former Manchester United man in the summer of 2020.

Olympic Lyon had even lowered the price for Depay in order for Barca to make the signing but even after so many sales, the Catalans did not have enough to gather the funds required to bring the Dutchman in. The Spanish giants sold Luis Suarez to Atletico Madrid and we’re not able to find a suitable replacement for the Uruguayan center forward.
Multiple reports including Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano now suggest that the Catalans will be looking to bring in the Dutchman in the January transfer window of 2021. The reports also indicate that the center-forward is pushing for a move to the Nou Camp.
Blaugrana still do not have a proper replacement for their club veteran Suarez, with the only proper striker being Martin Braithwaite. The Uruguayan is having a fantastic spell over at the Wanda Metropolitano as he has already netted more than five times and assisted a couple of goals for Diego Simeone’s men. Barca got rid of Nelson Semedo, Arthur Melo, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, and Suarez but still, there weren’t any profitable funds with which they could invest in the Lyon forward.
A move to the Nou Camp will give Memphis Depay a huge opportunity to revive his status to world-class. He was also top-notch for the French side since his arrival from Manchester United.
Should Barca make Depay a priority or sign a defender like Eric Garcia first?
