Barcelona target frustrated by his club’s lack of ambition
Barcelona striker target, Memphis Depay, frustrated at Lyon.
Memphis Depay who was a target for Ronald Koeman and is still a target for Barcelona should they fail to bring in Lautaro Martinez, has publicly spoken out about his current club. Depay currently plays for French giants, Olympique Lyonnais, who currently find themselves sitting in fifth place after just 4 wins in 10 matches. The winger believes that they should be challenging for the title but that will not happen if they are satisfied with mediocrity.

The Dutch winger changed his game completely after a few flop seasons with Manchester United. He moved to the French league and many critics thought that he would never play for an elite European club again but after his amazing stats last season when he managed to score 15 goals in 22 matches. Depay has started off this season with a bang as well, he has already scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 10 games.
The 26-year-old also realizes that this might be his last season with the French side as Barca are still showing interest in him. He heavily criticized his side for not having the winning mentality. In an interview with Téléfoot, he said,

Although I can’t say everything that goes through my mind about what’s going on, what I’m seeing at the club, there are things I can’t say, honestly,”“For all players it should be a motivation to come to Lyon because it’s a very big club and people have to realize that. It does not look as if Lyon are anywhere close to beating Paris Saint-Germains’ dominance over French football and Depay could just be doing some wishful thinking. Depay does have a chance, however, to end up at Camp Nou next season. Should Koeman remain at the club he will most likely bring him in along with another Dutch player who goes by the name of Gini Wijnaldum.
