Ronald Koeman has once again lost out on his preferred signing at Barcelona after Ansu Fati’s recent injury
Since Ronald Koeman took over as the manager of Barcelona, the Dutchman has been linked with the signing of Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia, and Gini Wijnaldum. Currently, the signing of Garcia and Depay remain as top priority signings for the upcoming winter transfer window in January.

Currently, Barca does not have substitute defenders as both Samuel Umtiti and Ronald Araujo are sidelined with injuries. The plausible signing of Eric Garcia would benefit the Catalans as the Spanish defender would provide competition to Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet and add some depth to the squad when rotations are needed.
Meanwhile, the signing of Memphis Depay this winter seems to be highly complicated after the injury of Ansu Fati. The Dutch manager had drawn out a plan of offloading Ousmane Dembele to Manchester United this winter and would replace the Frenchman with Depay. However, with the long-term injury to Fati, Koeman has no other option but to bestow his trust in Dembele for the time being.
The former Everton boss has once again lost out on the opportunity of signing Memphis Depay as he had come extremely close to signing the player earlier this summer.
Meanwhile, the situation with Lionel Messi has also grown complicated. Reports state that Manchester City has prepared a lucrative contract for the 33-year-old and will approach Messi this January for a pre-contract agreement. The 2020/21 will most likely be Leo Messi’s last season at Camp Nou.
