Barca had considered exercising another pay-cut in the senior squad to help cope with their situation. However, the players rejected the possible pay-cut that has now put the club on a tight rope. So much so, Ronald Koeman is no longer confident whether or not the club can sign Memphis Depay this January given the current financial state.
Having said that, Neymar and Lionel Messi are now set to drain out the club furthermore. Reports state that Messi has to be paid an additional 30 million euros next summer when his contract expires as part of the loyalty bonus in one of the clauses.
Meanwhile, _Neymar_ has asked his former club to pay him 44 million euros for a renewal premium that was not paid to him. In total, Barca would have to pay 77 million euros.
The club is in a tight spot and has to consider selling players such as Samuel Umtiti, Martin Braithwaite, and Junior Firpo over the winter transfer market to cope with their finances. The possibility of signing Memphis Depay or Eric Garcia seems to be bleak given the current scenario at the club.
