Sources have confirmed that Manchester City have taken a drastic step towards the plausible signing of Lionel Messi from Barcelona next season
Lionel Messi of Barcelona was close to signing for Manchester City earlier this summer after the player reportedly handed in a transfer request to the board via a burofax. However, after several days and prolonged negotiations between all the parties, it turned out to be rather futile as the move was blocked by the former Catalan board.

Leo Messi had no other option but to continue at the Camp Nou against his will rather than taking his beloved club to court as per his own words when on an interview with GOAL. Fast forward since then, Barca has not been performing at their best and this has been a cause for concern mainly because it gives Messi another reason to leave the club at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old’s contract is set to expire in June, however, legally, the player is permitted to begin negotiations with his agent and interested parties. Many sources earlier stated that Manchester City could possibly make an approach this January to begin talks with Leo Messi over a possible deal for next summer.
However, according to Sky Sports, inside information states otherwise regarding a plausible move for Lionel Messi. It has been reported that Manchester City will not make an attempt to sign Messi next summer and here are the reasons why.
