Barcelona prepares a masterplan to keep Leo Messi at Camp Nou next season. The club is confident that they can waive off Manchester City’s interest
Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong were rested by Ronald Koeman as Barcelona traveled to face Dynamo Kyiv. It was indeed a smart decision from the Dutchman given the lack of squad rotation this season. Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto‘s long term injuries have certainly acted as a wake-up call for the management to ensure swift squad rotation.

The Catalans continue to perform brilliantly in the Champions League after defeating Dynamo Kyiv 0-4, however, their domestic results in the La Liga Santander have certainly not been up to the standards. Barca are very well aware that if they want to ensure Leo Messi’s renewal next summer then they must step up their performances.
Having said that, Victor Font, a candidate for the president post, has a plan in place to keep Lionel Messi at Barca next season. Font believes that he can finally deliver the winning project that was promised to Messi by Josep Maria Bartomeu.
In order to build this project, Font has planned on signing some of the best footballers in the world and has also kept close tabs on Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund who just simply cannot stop scoring goals.
"“I already told him (Soriano) to forget about Messi, to look for alternatives to win the Champions League, because Messi will continue with us and we will win the Champions League,”- Victor Font’s conversation with Ferran Soriano who is the CEO of Manchester City."
It seems like Font is confident that he can promise Messi the Champions League title that the Catalans last won in 2015. Since that championship in Berlin, Barca have only face humiliation in the Champions League, however, Font believes he can bring an end to this by keeping Leo Messi in the team.
