Barcelona to conisder to ditch Lionel Messi for the next Cristiano Ronaldo
Barcelona have considered prioritising Erling Haaland for the summer of 2021 which seems like a better option than focusing on Messi’s renewal
Barcelona has a huge decision to make in the next coming months. According to reports published by GOAL, Joan Laporta, a prospective candidate for the president seat of Barca, has prioritized the signing of Erling Haaland given his connection with Mino Raiola. However, given the current economic condition of the club, Barca cannot possibly sign Haaland and renew Leo Messi’s contract.

Having said that, the Catalans must choose one. The ideal option is signing Erling Haaland. The Norwegian’s release clause is set at a mere 75 million euros and it is certain that the former RB Salzburg striker will not demand a salary anywhere close to that of Messi.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Lionel Messi is on a contract until the summer of 2021. Upon expiration, Barca is obligated to pay the player 30 million euros as a loyalty bonus and if terms are renewed then an increment in the wages will surely be on the card.
Leo Messi has already shown rapid signs of decline this season as he has scored only one open play goal in all competitions. Having said that, it makes absolutely no sense to renew terms with the South American whose wage would be set at almost 100 million euros a year.
The perfect option would be to sign Erling Haaland. The Norwegian is a phenomenal talent that simply cannot stop finding the back of the net. Haaland now has 33 goals in 32 games for Borussia Dortmund which simply proves how lethal a forward he is.
Would you rather have Erling Haaland at Camp Nou for 75 million euros and on half the wage of Leo Messi or would you prefer 34-year-old Leo Messi to renew terms and earn almost 100 million euros a season? Let me know in the comments below.
