Barcelona join race to secure Dortmund’s expensive superstar
Barcelona face competition for their targeted striker
Erling Haaland has been the striker who has been making the most amount of noise since last year. The Norwegian striker impressed many clubs through his rampant goal scoring nature in last year’s UEFA Champions League group stages. After his impressive run with RB Salzburg, a lot of clubs tried to obtain his signature, mainly Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, but ultimately he chose to join the Bundesliga side over the English giants. Now Barcelona wants the player in their ranks.

The striker’s continued form has now reignited the interests of many clubs. These clubs include the likes of both the Manchester clubs, Paris Saint-Germain , Juventus and even Barcelona. It is understandable as to why the world’s elites are looking into the player so closely, the 20 year old has already scored a mind boggling 17 goals in all competitions this season. He might go on to become one of the best center-forwards in history and no one wants to miss out on the opportunity to add him to their squad.
The Catalans, who are currently missing a number nine in their squad after selling Luis Suarez to Atletico Madrid, seem like the perfect candidate to pick up a player of Haaland’s caliber. This statement would have been true a couple of years ago, but now even though the Catalans are showing interest in the player, there is absolutely no way they can actually afford him. It is a horrible time for Barcelona financially and even in the league table and they must take drastic measures to avoid sinking any further.
Even though the Spanish giants are looking for a striker to compliment Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati, Haaland does not seem like the right answer. Dortmund has reportedly put a 100 million euros price tag on the player and that is beyond Barcelona’s ability to fulfill right now. The club should work on trying to keep Lionel Messi and fix their finances rather than spending more at such a critical time.
Do you think the Catalans will bring in Haaland?
