Frenkie de Jong could be sold to Bayern to avoid bankruptcy at Barcelona.

According to reports, The Catalan giants are 448 million euros in debt and they must decrease their wages if they want to avoid bankruptcy. The club has already agreed to cut wages of all members playing and non-playing but even that might not be enough as there are talks of them letting go of one of their star players in order to raise funds.

Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ansu Fati, and Frenkie de Jong are the only players who are worth big money from Blaugrana, at the moment, and it is understood that the Catalans are willing to use De Jong as the scapegoat.

The Dutch star who was brought to Camp Nou from Ajax after their brilliant 2018-19 season, for a fee of 75 million euros is now being used as a way to keep the club afloat. Bayern Munich are one of the teams who will be very interested in this transfer as they scouted both de Jong and Matthijs de ligt from Ajax and even tried negotiating with them.

The players, however, chose Barca and Juventus respectively, so Bayern will be very interested in bringing the talented player on board. The player has a contract that runs till 2026 and thus will not be a cheap buy. But, given Barca’s desperation, the German club could get a better deal than they normally would.
