Barcelona youngster suffers a critical injury while on loan.

Barcelona are already going through a very difficult time and they just cannot seem to catch a break. Gerard Pique’s injury will keep him out for at least four months, while youngster Pedri also got injured in a match against Real Sociedad. Fortunately, he was out only for a few days and was back for the clash against Valencia. Their luck gets worse as yet another player from the club got injured and might never make it back on the pitch.

More from Everything Barca

22-year-old Moussa Wague is a Barcelona player on loan at Greek club, PAOK F.C. He was progressing very well and made a number of appearances for the team as well as made four starts in the league. However, just as things were looking good for him, he had a disastrous injury on Sunday in a match against Aris.

Aris were winning by one goal and were through on goal for another one. In a last-ditch effort to prevent the scoring from doubling, Wauge put his body on the line to clear the ball however, his knee collided against the bar post and he shattered his knee.

The doctors were unsure about the damages at first but now we have the full report. After multiple tests, the doctors finally gave a full diagnosis and it is very critical: he ruptured the patellar tendon and posterior cruciate ligament of his right knee.

His treatment is being done in Barcelona under Dr. Ramon Cugat. The doctor reconstructed the patellar tendon in his right knee but he is far from recovery. Cugat estimates that the player will be out for at least nine months and worst-case scenario, he may never make it back on the pitch.

It really is a big shame since the player was showing good potential and could have starred for the Catalans after his loan spell. However, if everything goes as planned, the player should hopefully make a full recovery by the time he is 23 which would give him ample time to get back into form and restart his career.
