This comes after the former president, Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned willingly after months of pressure from players and fans alike. The former Barcelona president was receiving a lot of hate from his club’s fans for the way he had been running the club during his tenure.
Xavi Hernandez has been the coach of the famous middle eastern club, Al Sadd, in the UAE for quite a while now. There had been a lot of claims of the former Barcelona number 6 about making a move back to the Nou Camp in order to be the new coach.
The Spaniard, however, has declined any such claims during his respective pressers over the years and has stated that he is not experienced enough to be coaching a club of Barcelona’s level.
Font, on the other hand, has guaranteed the fans that the legendary midfielder will return to the Catalan side to become the new coach. He has also stated that he has a plan at hand that will see club legend Lionel Messi stay at the Nou Camp for a longer period of time.
The Spaniard has also stated that if he is to be elected as the new Barcelona president, he will pay for all the season tickets of the fans if he fails to keep his promises; promises such as bringing the world cup winning midfielder back as a coach and to convince Messi to stay and retire at the Nou Camp.
One can only wonder whether Font will be able to follow up on the big claims he is undoubtedly making to secure the presidency with Joan Laporta as competition. The arrival of the January transfer window will display some big moves over at the Nou Camp as a new president will be selected by the board.
