The 18-year-old was diagnosed with a tear to the internal meniscus of the left knee. This ruled him out for four months and was a devastating blow to the team. The youngster finally got his big break and was being used regularly by Ronald Koeman until his injury. He played in 10 games in all competitions and scored five goals plus provided four assists.

Fati was in an unbelievable form and thus it was a huge loss for the team. However, things are going as planned and Dr. Ramon Cugat has been supervising his progress and the club’s official website made a very promising statement regarding his health. Barcelona’s official website posted,

"“First-team player Ansu Fati has undergone a regenerative biological treatment by Dr. Ramon Cugat under the supervision of the club’s medical services, with the evolution of his injury following a very satisfactory course,”Source – FC Barcelona Website"

Although no official updates have been made regarding a possible return date, it is expected that he will return by March. This of course will mean that he will miss out on the first leg of the much-anticipated match against Paris Saint-Germain, but he will most likely appear in the second leg.

The Catalans suffered from his loss in the beginning but then they quickly recovered. They currently sit in fifth place, 10 points behind league leaders, Atletico Madrid. Atletico also have a game in hand and could further the gap between them. It is quite an uphill battle for Koeman’s team and thus he will be anxiously waiting for Fati to recover so that he can once again play his star forward.
