Barcelona presidential hopeful reveals corruption in the election.

As the elections for the presidency at Football Club Barcelona comes closer, new controversy arises. This time, it is not about playful jabs at rival club, Real Madrid but a rather serious allegation. Candidate, Emili Rousaud, has claimed that there is corruption going on in the elections and that people have been selling signatures to the candidates.

In an interview with SPORT, the presidential candidate was asked whether the rumors about a group of people selling signatures was true or not. Rousaud responded by saying that the allegations were indeed true and he and his team received offers for signatures in exchange for money. In the interview he said,

"“People have approached us to offer signatures in exchange for money, They told us they were signatures that would pass all of the controls in place at the club. We told them no.”Source Sport"

Rousaud claims that his team declined these offers as his campaign wants to follow ethics and morals. He said that he would rather lose the elections with dignity than win the votes by illegal methods. His team wants to stay completely clean and run a transparent campaign with no side business which will go against the club’s values.

This is not the first time such allegations have been made as Jordi Farre, another candidate running for the elections, made similar claims back in 2015. Victor Font and Joan Laporta are currently leading the race to win the elections according to a poll held by Mundo Deportivo. It will be interesting to see what the favorites have to say about the situation.

The elections will be held on the 24th of January and the new president will have a lot of work on his hands. The last thing he would want is a political scandal as it would delay progress even further.
