The midfielder is set for a reunion with former Barcelona academy graduate.
After a few days of negotiation, Barcelona officially announced an agreement with Getafe over the loan of midfielder Carles Aleña.
Per the club statement, the player is joining Getafe for the remainder of the season and will pay his wages during that time but will not have an option to buy.

From Barcelona’s perspective, the deal is a good one as Aleña is going to have more playing time and continue to develop. Getafe might not play exactly the same style as the Catalans but the important point is that he will play.
Getafe sit 16th in La Liga and need to start getting results or else they will find themselves in a relegation battle. What’s more is that both the president and the manager, José Bordalás, explicitly wanted to bring in Aleña.
At Getafe, he will find himself reunited with former Barca B teammate Marc Cucurella.
The Madrid-based side quickly announced his signing via their Twitter page.
As for what it means for Aleña is quite obvious. He was not going to get an opportunity with Barcelona and at 23-years-old, he cannot sit and wait around for an opportunity. It is crucial for him that his growth not stall.
It didn’t sound like Koeman was going to give him a chance either given his response before the deal was made official.
"“Aleña has permission from the club to seek his exit.“When everything is done, I will be able to give an opinion, but there are players who can decide to stay or not. He has decided to seek his exit.”Source: beIN Sports"
For those lamenting his exit as yet another sign of Barça no longer counting on La Masia players, the lack of an option to buy should spell good news that come next season, and perhaps with a new manager, Aleña will finally get a chance to prove he is good enough for Barcelona.
