Joan Laporta, Victor Font, Toni Freixa, and Emili Rousaud were the four candidates who landed their signatures for the race. These four men will be the ones receiving votes and by the end of the month, we will know the answer as to who amongst these four men will become the next president.
Former Blaugrana president Josep Maria Bartomeu was on the seat for quite a while before he resigned a few months ago. The Spaniard received a ton of criticism from the staff, players, and mostly from the fans. He had made promises which he failed to fulfill and the man basically drained the club for a lot of money which did not really pay off given Barcelona’s poor state financially after the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The club went into a massive amount of financial debt since the lockdown and the Catalans are still trying to come back to normality from it.
However, things are now looking up as Ronald Koeman‘s men are playing brilliantly on the pitch and it looks like the club will be able to fund some transfers which was not the case in the previous transfer window. Laporta looks to be the favorite to land the presidential seat but Font might also have a very big chance. The fans hope for a positive outcome no matter who becomes the president as the club as a whole is looking to recover back to their former status.
